Leadership matters but systems matter more

Debunking the Myth: "The Philippines Only Thrived Under Duterte" — and Why We Need Systemic Reform

A common myth keeps going around on the internet: that the Philippines was poor under Cory Aquino until Noynoy Aquino, and only under President Rodrigo Duterte did real change actually start. Its proponents point to gigantic allocations for infrastructure, free college tuition, and increased pensions as proof that "it was all possible—so why wasn't it done before?"

It sounds good at face value. But let's look at the historical realities, economic indicators, and structural framework to see what actually transpired—and why it's not so much about a single leader, but a deeper flawed system which keeps the Philippines in check irrespective of who is holding office.

1. The country was poor from Cory to Noynoy. – FALSE

Upon taking office in 1986, President Cory Aquino was left with a ruined economy from the Marcos regime—a debt of more than $26 billion, widespread crony capitalism, and debased democratic institutions. Her six-year term was focused on institutional reconstruction, ratifying the 1987 Constitution, reinstalling democracy but also installing restrictions still debated today.

Economic Growth:

  • Fidel Ramos (1992–1998): Spurred reforms and deregulation; growth was averaged at 5%.
  • Gloria Arroyo (2001–2010): Attained robust growth (4.5% average) despite worldwide crises.
  • Noynoy Aquino (2010–2016): Provided 6.2% average GDP growth, investment-grade credit ratings, and enhanced global economic rankings.
FACT: Between 1986 and 2016, the Philippines was making steady gains. The notion that "nothing happened for 30 years" is contrary to facts.

2. There was no funding during PNoy's time. – MISLEADING

Noynoy Aquino's administration was known for fiscal discipline, aiming to reduce debt and corruption. Many of Duterte’s programs were made possible due to the healthy economy and stable reserves left by PNoy.

Major initiatives under PNoy:

  • Sin Tax Reform (2012): Funded healthcare expansion
  • K-12 Education Reform
  • Infrastructure budget rose from 1.8% to 5.4% of GDP
  • Social and education spending significantly increased
FACT: The Duterte administration built on these gains, not created them from scratch.

3. Duterte accomplished more than anyone else. – EXAGGERATED

Duterte did initiate important projects, such as Build, Build, Build, but most of these were continuations or renamed versions of initiatives initiated under past presidents:
  • NAIA Expressway and MRT-7: Initiated under PNoy
  • Clark Green City: Conceived under Arroyo
  • Universal Health Care: Foundation laid by PNoy's PhilHealth reforms
  • And while Duterte ramped up spending:
  • The Philippine debt ballooned to over P13.7 trillion
  • Only 12 of the 119 Build, Build, Build projects were finished by 2022
  • Pharmally corruption scandal revealed lack of transparency
FACT: Mega budgets and boisterous policies do not always translate to mega impact.

4. "Everything was free under Duterte." – MISREPRESENTED

Most programs were not new:
  • Free college tuition: Suggested long before Duterte; written by Bam Aquino
  • Land distribution: Initiated with Cory Aquino's CARP in 1988
  • Healthcare and veterans' pensions: Expanded but not created under Duterte
FACT: These weren’t Duterte’s sole achievements—they were part of a larger, decades-long effort by various administrations, lawmakers, and civil society.

5. LPs were just corrupt, and Duterte stopped them. – BASELESS AND DIVISIVE

Corruption has occurred under all administrations. Duterte’s term faced:
  • Pharmally scandal (P10B in pandemic supplies)
  • Intelligence funds with no audit
  • Drug war abuses with minimal accountability
FACT: Good governance requires checks and balances, not blind allegiance to any one party or figure.

6. The Real Issue: A Flawed and Archaic System

While arguments storm about who "did more," the underlying problem is still left untouched: the 1987 Constitution, composed during an atmosphere of fear and change during the period after Martial Law, has become antiquated and structurally defective.

Primary Defects of the Present System:

  • Excessive concentration of power in "Imperial Manila"
  • Limitations on foreign direct investment (FDI) dissuade job creation
  • Weakened political party system – personality over platforms
  • Obstacles to regional progress and federalism
  • Bureaucratic and slow legislation and justice system

Other ASEAN Countries Reformed:

  • Singapore reformed early and is now the model of governance
  • Malaysia and Thailand reformed constitutions for better governance
  • Vietnam, being communist, opened up its economy and emerged as one of Asia's fastest-growing markets
The Philippines, on the other hand, is mired with a hyper-presidential, unitary system which renders true progress in slow, uneven, and unsustainable terms.

7. We Need Constitutional Reform—Not Just a New President

The fact is, even if you choose the most effective leader, if the system is flawed, improvement will always be constrained.

What we need:

  • Transition to federalism or parliamentary system for local empowerment
  • Economic Charter Change to entice more investments and employment
  • Strengthening of political parties and anti-dynasty measures
  • Decentralization of government services and funds
FACT: The Constitution should empower the country, not chain it.

Conclusion: Leadership Matters—But Systems Matter More

Rodrigo Duterte also had his part to play, but it's not true that he single-handedly changed the nation or that nobody contributed. Each administration has built on the previous one. Genuine change will not come from allegiance to any personality—it will come from structural change that will bring sustainable, inclusive growth for all Filipinos.

Until we update the old 1987 Constitution, we will just keep on electing leaders with grand ideas only to see them trapped in a slow, imperfect system.

Let's stop squabbling about personalities. Let's begin repairing the system.

Rethinking about PBBM

Unexpected Twists: Reexamining Bongbong Marcos in an Evolving Political Scenario

Three years prior, talking positively about President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. would have seemed unthinkable. His last name is synonymous with one of the darkest moments in Philippine history—martial law, dictatorship, and plunder for many. But politics, as life, is not often black and white. And recently, Bongbong Marcos has been doing something nobody anticipated—steering away from the inheritance that propelled him to power and forging a new path that, though flawed, indicates a different trajectory.

The Son, Not the Father

Regardless of how much one dislikes his pedigree, it is instructive to observe a deep truth: people are not their parents. A verse from Ezekiel 18:20 is a timeless reminder: "The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father." History will judge the father. But the son? The son must be held accountable for his own deeds.

That change of heart has become particularly significant now that the new administration is starting to exhibit signs of reform, pragmatism, and—even more astoundingly—principled leadership.

From Symbolism to Substance

Unlike the strongman populism of the last few years, Marcos Jr. has made decisions that subtly but meaningfully depart from his father's shadow of authoritarianism and his predecessor's blood-stained playbook.

Let's consider what's been transpiring:

✅ Professional, non-partisan hires for high-level positions like PNP Chief Gen. Nicholas Torre, a reform symbol in a historically militarized organization.

✅ Putting an end to the phony drug war: No more extrajudicial "tokhang" murders. The President has set aside Duterte's deadly record in favor of due process and human rights.

✅ Stopping wasteful expenditures, including rejecting billions in questionable "confidential funds" that are linked to the Vice President.

✅ Defending Philippine sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea by reclaiming the 2016 UN arbitral win, a foreign policy position long neglected or bargained away.

✅ Shunning Beijing's influence, including reversing the enigmatic "Gentleman's Agreement" supposedly created under Duterte's regime.

✅ Reinvigorating friendships with the West, and not as an act of submission, but as a diplomatic realignment.

✅ Ordering the pursuit of justice against criminal religious cult leader Apollo Quiboloy, who for years walked with impunity.

✅ Demonstrating political will by standing up against the Duterte faction, keeping them in check for abuses previously thought unassailable.

These are not symbolic acts. These are indicative of a measured, de-Marcosian method to leadership—a move no one was really anticipating.

When the Opposition Joins the Table

The political aftershocks of Senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan joining the Senate majority raised more eyebrows than cheers. To many from the liberal-progressive clan, it was betrayal. But is it?

If their membership in the Education and Agriculture committees translates to real, tangible improvements, then perhaps it's not a loss—but a calculated comeback. Even Senator Risa Hontiveros, who campaigned for their return, hasn't sounded the alarm.

Reformers sometimes have to work through the system to transform it. And maybe Marcos Jr., unexpectedly, is keeping the possibility of such an alliance open.

It's Not Love—It's Clarity

Let's be clear: this isn't a glowing review of Bongbong Marcos as a visionary. It's not about erasing the past. It's about facing current realities. He's not perfect—but he's not Duterte. And he's definitely not his father.

There’s power in saying: “I’ve changed my mind because I’ve seen evidence.” And that’s what this is. A personal evolution born from observing a different kind of leadership than what was expected.

And if that opinion alienates others? So be it.

No Apologies for Seeing Change

This blog does not exist to parrot echo chambers or gratify tribal allegiances. It exists in order to question, judge, and think critically—even if that means diverging from ideological purists or the perpetually outraged.

If you've read this far and feel driven to unfollow, unsubscribe, or cancel—go for it. This place isn't for outrage-as-performance. It's for painful truths, considered nuance, and yes, hope that even in politics, people can surprise us.

Because if we can't accommodate growth—not only in leaders, but in ourselves—then we've learned nothing at all.

Let's continue to watch. Let's continue to question. Let's continue to hold them accountable. But let's not be so blinded by the past that we cannot observe history-in-the-making.

Blanking my Facebook profile

Why Everyone Should Go Blank on Facebook

A world, where innocently creeping into our daily lives now abounds in social media platforms, actually extends the individual unto those digital societies like Facebook. From reporting life events such as getting married, giving birth, and so much more, to those sharing their opinions on every current affairs, the social media mirrors the thought and experiences of millions, if not billions. There is then a new movement campaigning for going "blank" on Facebook, a stop or reduction of content sharing. While paradoxical in a hyper-connected world, there are strong reasons why everyone should be contemplating this measure.

So I did blank my personal Facebook profile except for my Facebook page. And here are my reasons why:

1. Safety for Mental Health

Incessant demands to keep posting, commenting, and sharing can feed stress, anxiety, and even depression. To go blank on Facebook would give users the respite needed from constant comparisons and noise online. Digital clutter, so often cleared by people, often brings more mental clarity and peace into one's life.

2. Protection of Privacy

It is an unprecedented milestone for people to share the information in a social net such as Facebook. Data is increased proportionally; therefore, chances of abuse through a privacy breach increase. Minimizing chances of misuse with personal data through no sharing and limiting access greatly reduces probabilities of misuse such as identity theft.

Private messages can also be vulnerable, as they may be screenshotted and exposed on other platforms without consent—a situation experienced by Maris Racal in 2024. Keeping your Facebook profile minimal or blank reduces the likelihood of exposure and potential blackmail.

Privacy matters! The Data Privacy Act of 2012 and similar laws in other jurisdictions serve as vital defenses, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding our personal information.

3. Exposing Authentic Relationships

Social media was invented as a means of keeping in touch, but it is perhaps now most useful for shallow engagements. The nudging to simplify your online life fosters deeper, in-person interactions. Meaningful discussions and quality time spent with those closest to you only truly strengthen relationships, far beyond what any digital engagement might do.

4. Reclaiming Time and Productivity

An average user spends hours scrolling through Facebook daily, which is the habit that easily distracts from productivity. A blank screen will help people get back their time so that they can concentrate much more clearly on work, hobbies, or self-development. Rather than meaningless and mindless scrolling, people can invest in activities that really satisfy them.

5. Online Drama and Conflict Mitigation

Social media and Facebook, at times, tend to inflate tensions and misunderstandings. Whether it is a debate over political issues, a controversy that goes viral, or any form of conflict, these situations can easily get out of hand in the blink of an eye, bringing undue stress. Mute goes a long way in reducing exposure to these kinds of online dramas for a more harmonious day-to-day life.

6. Preserving Self-Worth and Confidence

It becomes fairly straightforward to build a self-concept based on likes, shares, or comments on a social network. This measures do distort reality in the perception of achievement or happiness. Limiting activities on Facebook may help untangle social media validation from intrinsic success in life.

7. Developing Actual Physical Presence

Going blank encourages a person to live in the moment. It means not framing every experience in terms of "How will this look on Facebook?" People learn to enjoy events and milestones without having to broadcast them. This shift fosters mindfulness and a more profound appreciation for life's real moments.

8. How to Go Blank and Still Stay Connected

Go blank does not mean get rid of Facebook entirely; it means redefine your relationship with the same. Here's how:
  1. Limit Your Posts: Just publish what is actually important rather than keeping everything updated.
  2. Turn Off Notifications: Thus, you will be not distracted all the time and controlling when you really want to log into the platform.
  3. Facebook for Specific Purpose: Use Facebook for groups, events, or any vital communication without getting sucked into the feed.
  4. Prioritize Direct Communication: Reach out to friends and family through calls or personal messages rather than public posts.

Final Thoughts

Going blank on Facebook is a conscious decision that reflects a desire to achieve balance in such an ever-connected world. This is an invitation to find inner mental peace, reclaim privacy, and foster real-world connections. In a digital landscape where sharing has become tantamount to living, it could be the healthiest choice of them all to step back. Come and breathe into the blank space, discover life on your terms—unfiltered and authentically yours.

Entitlement and the lousy 1987 Constitution

Is "Entitlement" a Symptom of a Lousy Economic System in the Philippines?

The term “entitlement” has been used to describe behaviors where individuals feel they deserve special treatment or benefits without necessarily earning them. In the Philippines, this concept often surfaces in social discussions, tied to generational clashes or workplace dynamics. But what if we look beyond individual attitudes? Could the prevalence of this so-called “entitlement” be linked to a flawed economic system?

Understanding “Entitlement” in Context

Before diving deeper, it’s important to clarify what “entitlement” means in the Filipino context. It often refers to people expecting assistance, privileges, or rewards without proportional effort. This stereotype has been applied to various groups—from younger generations perceived as demanding work-life balance to certain communities reliant on government assistance.

But where does this sense of entitlement come from? Is it purely a personal failing, or is there a systemic problem contributing to these attitudes?

A Lousy Economic System: The Real Culprit?

The Philippines has faced persistent economic challenges that shape its social and cultural landscape. These challenges include high levels of poverty, economic inequality, a job market that struggles to keep up with a growing population, and systemic corruption. Let's explore how these factors might contribute to what is perceived as a culture of entitlement.

1. Economic Inequality and Limited Opportunities

One of the primary reasons for entitlement in the Philippines could be the uneven distribution of resources and opportunities. When only a small portion of the population has access to quality education, good jobs, and upward mobility, the rest may feel disadvantaged and frustrated. This frustration can manifest as entitlement—a sense that one deserves more because of the hardship they have faced.

A young graduate, for example, who studied hard but finds the job market saturated and underpaying may feel entitled to a higher salary or better working conditions than what’s available. This isn’t simply a baseless demand; it’s a reflection of a system that fails to reward effort and education adequately.

2. Generational Economic Shifts

Each generation has faced unique economic challenges. Older generations may have experienced slower economic growth but benefited from a lower cost of living. Millennials and Gen Z, however, are entering adulthood at a time when the cost of living is significantly higher, and job stability is more elusive. The feeling of entitlement among younger Filipinos may stem from these economic realities, as they struggle to achieve financial independence in a system that seems skewed against them.

3. A System That Breeds Dependency

The Philippines has social safety nets and aid programs that, while helpful, are not always effective or sustainable. These programs can sometimes create dependency, especially when there are few opportunities for people to transition from relying on assistance to achieving self-sufficiency. This dependency can then be mistaken for entitlement, as those dependent on aid may continue to expect support without exploring alternatives.

However, the problem here is not laziness or a flawed character trait—it is a system that doesn’t offer enough viable options for economic advancement. When people feel stuck, they may resort to demanding more from the system that they believe has let them down.

4. Cultural Factors and Family Structures

In the Philippines, family is a strong cultural pillar, and many households operate as close-knit units where resources and responsibilities are shared. This has pros and cons; while it can foster community and resilience, it can also create a mindset where individual responsibility is less emphasized. If a family member always steps in to help during hard times, this could reinforce a sense of entitlement to that help. But again, this is shaped by an economic system that makes self-sufficiency harder to achieve.

Changing the Narrative

Labeling entitlement as merely a personal or generational failing oversimplifies the issue. The reality is that economic systems and policies play a significant role in shaping attitudes and expectations. Addressing entitlement effectively requires:

Job Creation and Better Wages: Ensuring that there are ample job opportunities that pay fair wages is crucial for creating a system where people can thrive without relying on external support.

Education Reform: Improving access to quality education and aligning it with job market demands can help bridge the gap between education and employment.

Support for Entrepreneurship: Encouraging entrepreneurship and providing support for small and medium enterprises can foster independence and reduce economic dependency.

Policies to Reduce Inequality: Implementing policies that narrow the wealth gap and promote social mobility can help create a fairer society where people feel their efforts are rewarded.

A Call for Empathy and Systemic Change

While it’s easy to dismiss entitlement as an attitude problem, it’s more productive to view it as a symptom of deeper, systemic issues. Filipinos deserve a system that values hard work, offers fair opportunities, and provides a realistic path to self-improvement. It’s time to shift the conversation from blaming individuals to addressing the structural challenges that fuel these perceptions.

By recognizing that what may be labeled as “entitlement” is often rooted in economic disparity, we can begin to create solutions that empower people rather than shame them. A stronger, fairer economic system will foster a culture of resilience, gratitude, and genuine ambition—one where everyone has the chance to succeed without needing to rely solely on demands.

Money wrong sent

What to Do When You Accidentally Send Money to the Wrong Account: A Step-by-Step Guide

Well, the correct title of this article should be "Money wrongly sent" and I just hate how stressful and frustrating it can be sending money to the wrong account. Sometimes, it is merely a typographical error in an account number or a wrong selection from contact. Still, if it happens to you, don't worry because there is a guide on steps that you can take to recover your money.

Step 1: Stay Calm and Act Right Away

First, stay as calm as possible. It's alarming when you realize your money went into the wrong account, but the critical thing now is that you act fast with reason so that you can maximize a chance of recovery.

Step 2: Call Your Bank or Payment Provider

Once you discover the mistake contact your bank or the other payment service provider that you used in transferring the money. Generally, most banking institutions have a certain department that deals with issues of mistaken transfers. Here is what you need to do:

Call their customer line, and discuss your issue with one of their representatives so that you can explain the situation quite clearly.

Prepare the following: reference number of the transaction, date and time of transfer, and the amount. This may help them locate the problem more efficiently to be investigated.

Pro Tip: Keep copies of any and all communications, even email correspondence and call record to have evidence of your actions.

Step 3: File a Reversal

Once your bank becomes aware of the fact that there was an error in the transaction, it is able to start the reversal process. This is a process whereby they dial the recipient's bank to alert them about the error and ask for the cash. This usually works depending on:

Cooperation from the recipient: If the person or organization who received the cash is willing to return it, the reversal process works fast.

Timing: Speed is of the essence. The sooner that notice is given to the bank, the better are the chances of catching the funds before they are withdrawn or spent.

Step 4: Reach the Recipient's Bank (If Known)

If you know the recipient's bank and have their information, you can reach out directly to their bank. Explain the situation of the wrongful transfer and share any documentation.

Step 5: Legal Advice (If Required)

In case your bank fails to recover the money, then legal action is required. Here's what you can do:

File a police report: This is especially important if you believe there was fraud involved, or the recipient refuses to return the funds.

Advise with a lawyer: A lawyer is able to guide you on how to approach the situation and advise on the best course of action.

Step 6: Avoid Future Errors

Mistakes are made, but you can avoid paying the wrong account again in the future through the following measures:

Double-check the double check, both account number and name, before approving the transaction.

For frequent money orders to particular accounts, prepare templates to avoid spelling mistakes.

Check it before you send: Take an extra moment to check the details before sending anything off on any transaction.

What if you sent money using a Digital Pay App?

If you did that by way of digital payment app like PayPal or Venmo or GCash, things may work differently. Most of those apps have their own process for disputing. Here is how to handle this:

Check their help center: Most of the services have specific instructions about what you should do in case you have sent money to the wrong account.

Use in-app support: Most of the services provide this for an instant response from the app directly about the issue at hand.

Ask the recipient for reimbursement: In case this is feasible, message the recipient and nicely explain the incident and ask for their cooperation and to return the money.

It's stressful when you mistakenly transfer money to some untoward account, but prompt action and proper strategy can boost the chances of getting your money back. Although no bank or payment provider can guarantee recovery in every case, staying proactive and vigilant will help.

Remember: Mistakes such as this really show you how important it is to make sure double checks of the details before you confirm any form of financial transaction. The more digital payments become, a mistake such as this one is likely to prove very costly after the situation has passed.

NAIA remains the worst airport

Why the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Remains as the Worst in the World

For many Filipinos and international travelers, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, or NAIA for short, is synonymous with a series of long-standing challenges. Once an airport with huge potential, NAIA is now infamous as one of the least favored in the world. From issues related to safety to amenities and everything in between, here's the core of issues that led to its infamous status and what could possibly be done to change them.

1. Flight Delays and Congested Air Traffic

NAIA suffers from a chronic case of flight delays. The airport operates beyond its design capacity by handling millions of more passengers yearly than it was designed for. Such congestion in air traffic causes flight delays that inconvenience the travelers as well as strains the airline's schedules and the schedules of their employees.

Underlying Causes of Delays:

Overcapacity: NAIA was built to service around 31 million passengers yearly. However, it normally exceeds that figure, thus creating bottlenecks and operational stress.

Outdated Infrastructure: The airport facilities and runway system are not designed to manage the present volume of air traffic.

2. Slow Internet Speed

Internet has now become a basic service in a world connected together, more so for passengers in an international airport as they spend their time online to keep in touch with family, friends, or even colleagues, or do some work or play.
But the story at NAIA is quite different, and internet access here is very slow for a long period of time, thus causing frustration on the part of the travelers.

Problem Areas in Internet Connectivity:

Inconsistent Wi-Fi Service: The NAIA's Wi-Fi is spotty and inconsistent; passengers will not be able to get any good connectivity while in transit.

Outdated internet infrastructure: thousands of people cannot be catered by this old infrastructure, and renewed programme is in order as well to stimulate investment.

3. Dirty safety issues

Safety issues of sanitation add up also in NAIA's sorry status. Stories of thieves and even how unsuspecting travelers get defrauded have always painted a bad picture before travel, especially coupled with the unsatisfactory bathroom facilities that are cleaned less than satisfactorily for people.

Safety Problem Concerns

Theft and scamming: There have been several thefts and scams in the airport. This has resulted in a lack of trust on the part of the passengers. They are suspicious and do not trust others.

Gaps in security: There has been an enhancement of the security system for the past few years. The protocols sometimes seem to be obsolete or not up to date for the type of threat that may occur.

Dirty facilities: There are reports of filthy toilets, dirty waiting lounges, and poor management of waste.

Limited Resources: With a high volume of traffic, combined with limited resources, this leads to a drop in cleanliness, especially during peak hours.

4. Obsolete Facilities and Lacking Comfort

NAIA's facilities have also been faulted as being obsolete and do not meet the standard modernity. From poor sitting facilities to poor air-conditioning, the airport hardly gives comfort and amenities travelers would expect in a hub such as this.

Facility Concerns:

There is Inadequate Seating and Waiting Areas: Overcrowding will result in most of the passengers waiting out there standing or sitting on the floor to wait to get their flights.

Lack of Modern Amenities: Lounges, charging stations, among other things usually found in other International airports make it all all the worse.

Step Toward Improvement

Although NAIA has been plagued with these issues for such a long time, efforts in solving them are being made. Plans for terminal expansion and partnerships with private entities towards better management, as well as proposed infrastructure investments suggest that there may be light at the end of this tunnel.

Proposed Solution

Expansion and Modernization- Building new terminals or expanding facilities can help distribute the passengers more evenly.

It involves modernizing the internet and other digital comforts to create easy travel experiences.

Security and Sanitation Protocols: There are ways to make a place safer and more sanitary, such as by increasing security and adding more cleaning staff.

END

NAIA is just one of the worst airports worldwide, and it's not just because of one thing but a complex mix of problems. Comprehensive reform would be needed to rid the airport of this stigma and make it something Filipinos could be proud of. That means more than improving the infrastructure but also efficient management, better allocation of resources, and more focus on passenger experience.

Such improvements would never come overnight, but concerted efforts and strategic changes should be able to direct NAIA toward better directions. With the right focus, NAIA could become one infamous travel burden turned airport for global standards, which presents a warm welcome gateway for the Philippines.

UGC as a trending e-commerce

User-Generated Content for Social Media E-Commerce on the Level: A Game Changer in Brands

User-generated content today, within the dynamic digital marketplace, has been elevated from its elementary stage of being a mere marketing tactic into an important facet for any e-commerce campaign to flourish. Social media now turns out to be the vehicle wherein people go about online shopping. Consequently, brands are coming up with various methods for leveraging UGC by raising the engagement among their customers, creating trust in such platforms, and finally boosting sales. Read here as to why there should be an upgrade in social media e-commerce user-generated content. It's also going to answer why companies must make the most out of the opportunity.

Why User-Generated Content Matters in E-commerce

User-generated content is simply any form of content-from reviews to images, videos, and testimonials-that customers themselves create to share their experience with a product or service. The reason UGC is so important in e-commerce is that it represents authenticity and relates to the customer. Old-fashioned advertising is just not believable, but more importantly it doesn't speak to today's informed consumer in the way UGC does.

Why Social Media E-Commerce Should Focus on UGC

1. This means that potential buyers get that belief in their purchase decisions that's created by real users, and it also allows consumers to gain trust and credibility while making sure that potential buyers have some form of belief in making any purchasing decisions.

2. Boosts Engagement: UGC is interactive and relatable and encourages more shares, likes, and comments compared to those for brand-generated content.

3. Conversion Rates Increase When shoppers see relatable content showing how products function in real life.

4. Expands a brand's reach: Users create and share content around a brand, hence providing the brand with exposure to the followers, hence expanding the reach without investing more on marketing.

Tactics to Leverage User-Generated Content

To fully benefit from the strength of UGC, brands cannot rely solely on the re-posting of the pictures and reviews uploaded by the users. There is much more that an e-commerce business can do about UGC and this includes,

1. Activate video creation

Photos and written reviews are important, but videos are the most engaging content on social media. Brands should encourage their customers to create unboxing videos, tutorials, and product demos. They are more immersive, letting a potential customer see how the product works and fits into his lifestyle.

Tip: Run contests or challenges on platforms like TikTok or Instagram Reels, challenging customers to share their creative video content featuring your products.

2. Incorporate UGC in Shoppable Posts

One wonderful way that links user-generated content with the sales process is through inclusion in shoppable posts. Currently, Instagram and Facebook facilitate features such that posts of user-generated content become shoppable with shopping options attached directly to the contents.

For example, a clothing company may post a picture of a customer wearing the latest collection, label the products available in the post, and through such posts, make easy clicking and buying by the followers.

3. Utilizing Testimonials and Stories from the Customers

Using stories and testimonies of customers can connect them to potential buyers on a more profound, emotional level. Such stories of how some product changed someone's life or satisfied a certain want might be more influential than ordinary marketing.

Implementation: Use a branded hashtag where customers are encouraged to share their stories, and use those on your social media feeds.

4. Collaborate with Micro-Influencers

Micro-influencers are referred to as influencers who have a relatively small number of followers but are often more trusted in their audience. This group can create authentic UGC for brands when partnering with them to reach the social media channels.

Pro Tip: Choose micro-influencers who share the same values as your brand so that your content will resonate with the target audience.

5. Host Live Events and Q&A Sessions

User-generated content does not have to be recorded or static. Holding live events where customers can share experiences, ask questions, and get interactive with your brand in real time can create a sense of community and trust.

Interactive Approach: Show and share user's content at a live session and encourage the individual to tell his experience or participate in a Q&A for more information.

Optimization of UGC for E-Commerce

User-generated content has to be carefully curated and high in quality for brand image and its effectiveness. Here's optimization of UGC for e-commerce

1. UGC Aggregation Tools

Through tools like Yotpo, Olapic, and Bazaarvoice, brands can collect, curate, and showcase user-generated content efficiently. These tools are easy to use and help display UGC on websites, social media pages, and product landing pages.

2. Quality and Diversity

All the UGCs are distinct in nature and do not hold the same ranking before their audience. Take some time so that each and every single UGC shared presents all that your brand values for the moment and the feel as well. Also, by diversifying the user's experiences, you are then promoting a larger audience to it as well as proving how it applies to everyone on any of the products.

3. Authenticity

The key strength of UGC is its authenticity. Don't try to edit or control what the users have to say. Let the authentic voice of your customers speak out through your brand, and thereby create a relatable, trustworthy brand image.

The Future of User-Generated Content in Social Media E-Commerce

It will be only interesting to see the role of user-generated content in e-commerce as social media is evolving; with technological advancement and interactive and relational content, more attention will eventually be given to brands whose strategies include excellent integration into user-generated content. Customer loyalty and higher conversion are expected.

FINAL TAKEAWAY

All the talk engulfed by UGC as a trend alone does not make up the trend anymore; it stands as an exceptionally forceful opportunity for e-commerce businesses to create a relationship and engage in conversation with a community as well as empower them, and not take that away. Leveling UGC is no small feat because, through levelled, well-thought-put strategies of UGC on social media, these brands may create a well-welled community whose voice, just as for the brands who give them opportunities, creates excitement and stimulates sales.

What if Leni-Kiko won?

Why Leni as President and Kiko as VP Won't Change the 1987 Constitution—But Could still Affect their Reputations

If Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan had won the 2022 Philippine presidential election as against Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. (BBM) and Sara Duterte, they would, at best, have operated their governance through a principle of reform, transparency, and continuity rather than a 'rude shock' character.

One thing they wouldn't touch is the 1987 Philippine Constitution. For all their intentions to uphold democratic values and maintain stability, the same Constitution could ironically become a factor that challenges and potentially damages their political reputations. Here's why the 1987 Constitution could become a double-edged sword for Leni and Kiko.

1. The 1987 Constitution as Symbol of Stability and Democracy.

It is in this regard that the Constitution of 1987 is a product of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the father of BBM, authoritarian rule, and it was drafted under Corazon Aquino to safeguard from the abuses felt during Martial Law. Indeed, Bill of Rights, term limits, and separation of powers are all there to ensure no leader could establish himself to be a permanent force or that government apparatuses be for personal gain.

For personalities like Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan, the 1987 Constitution would be an operative norm to act according to. They would subscribe to it as a sign of democratic resilience, allowing the people of the Philippines to feel comfortable with knowing that their government respects civil liberties and is not going to abuse its powers.

It is, therefore not surprising that they do not look at changing it lightly; it would be seen as challenging the very values they represent.

2. Public Perception and the "Anti-Charter Change" Stand

Both Leni and Kiko have been loud in opposition to charter change, also known as Cha-Cha, which many believe would open the door to corrupt officials extending their term or even changing provisions protecting citizens' rights. Rigidity of the 1987 Constitution in certain areas is said to be an antidote to political self-interest; the public does not really trust leaders who push for changes. Had Leni and Kiko tried to change the Constitution, they may have been accused of wanting to do so for certain reasons, even if this was not their intention. They would probably stay firm on an "anti-charter change" stance so as not to invite those controversies and lose the trust of their supporters. Their core constituency, which includes progresses, pro-democracy forces, and human rights groups, might view any effort to change the Constitution as a sellout to the values they espouse.

3. The 1987 Constitution as a Restraining Factor in Government Operations

The main drawback of the 1987 Constitution is its age and some outdated provisions that do not well serve the present needs and challenges of the Philippines. While it has ensured the safeguarding of democracy, it also creates huge difficulties in economic reform, foreign investment restrictions, and local governance structures. As progressive leaders, Leni and Kiko might be frustrated that constitutional limitations will restrain them from implementing substantial reforms. If they wanted to open certain industries to more foreign investments to spur economic growth or to adjust social welfare programs, they would be limited by restrictions that could break or weaken efforts.

It was in such an event, the inflexibility within the Constitution was very dangerous to their rule to seem ineffective or unable to do desirable change.

4. Economic and social issues that need reform

Leni Robredo has been a consistent advocate for inclusive economic growth, a respite from poverty, and social welfare programs. Still, other experts say that several provisions on foreign investment, tenurial rights, and the role of the state in the economy may contradict efforts to achieve these ends in the 1987 Constitution. She would not want to tinker with the Constitution, but the lack of flexibility might mean stalled reforms, slower economic growth, and public discontent.

For instance, the Constitution's strict limits on foreign ownership and investment protect Filipino interests but also repel much-needed foreign capital that could spur growth, create jobs, and modernize infrastructure. With economic impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic and global inflation, the pressure on any administration to boost growth is immense.

In that case, any constitutional barrier which would hinder their administration in generating economic development would haunt and hurt their reputation both for the believers and skeptics.

5. Constitutional Checks on National Security and Crimes Issues

Another area that may affect them in their administration is restrictions from the Constitution on issues related to national security measures. For instance, the constitutional provisions of separation of power and other provisions may provide some constraints on quick moves on pressing issues such as illegal drugs, crime, and insurgency.

In the government of Leni-Kiko, the approach may likely include community-based programs and more human rights approach in resolving crime issues rather than in an aggressive way under the Duterte administration. Still, whenever the crime rates continue or the security issue deteriorates, the critics will view the unwillingness of such an administration to think of constitutional reforms especially with the aspect of national security, as a weakness. If an administration appears lenient or constricted by archaic laws, its reputation among the populace desiring decisive actions could suffer. Constitutional restraints could not impose measures as aggressive as desired by public perception, which may have given Leni and Kiko an image of inefficiency or "soft" when it comes to criminals that will affect their political positioning.

6. The Risk of Stagnation and the Blame Game

One of the most significant risks that would be posed by not amending the Constitution is political stagnation. In the system, it takes a long time to process government matters and, therefore, may take years to implement policies because of bureaucratic red tape and structural inefficiencies. With Leni and Kiko at the helm, limitations of the 1987 Constitution may prevent them from making swift changes in place, and their administration will be branded as "too slow" or "ineffective." Opponents and critics will most likely play on such issues by claiming that the administration is not living up to its promise or really making much headway. Ironically, as Leni and Kiko would prefer to leave the Constitution as a matter of respect for democratic processes, they would still be faulted for the same lapses of the system that would remain unchanged. This would make the public lose confidence in the government, especially when they start comparing their performance unfavorably with other leaders who might take more aggressive, albeit less democratic, actions.

7. The Difficulty of Dealing with Contemporary Issues without Contemporary Instruments

Issues such as climate change, digital governance, international diplomacy, and cybercrime in the globalized world of the 21st century require modern tools and adaptable systems. Thus, the 1987 Constitution, although effective in its time, lacks specific frameworks to address these modern challenges comprehensively. If they are to be constant only according to the Constitution like this, then Leni and Kiko will indeed ally with the more advanced age groups, and therefore this may constrain them only for fewer ways to respond based on new issues. Thought impossibility of handling these concerns of the moment armed only with antiquated arsenals only fuels more riots to further scrutinize. Its image, however, was bruised when trying to overcome the current challenges in such an archaic system, while its values and intentions were aligned with what best served the public. Conclusion: A Double-Edged Sword of Defending Democratic Values In a way, while Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan will probably be for the 1987 Constitution in showing respect for democracy and in commitment to transparency, it is ironic that the limitation of the Constitution will be the frustration and damage to their reputations. In not being able to advocate for constitutional amendments, they will remain in the good books of those who fear Cha-Cha, but they'll also be perceived as weak leaders held captive by the old system. The paradox here is that even though Leni and Kiko's adherence to the 1987 Constitution would demonstrate their commitment to democratic values, it could also set them up for criticism and potential political damage. In today's rapidly evolving world, staying true to the Constitution might uphold democratic integrity but hinder the ability to enact meaningful, timely changes. This would pose a tricky dilemma for Leni and Kiko between respect for the democratic foundation in the nation and responsiveness to the demands of modern Filipino society.

Happiness under 130,000 salary

Finding Happiness Beyond the Paycheck: Thriving on Less Than 130,000 Pesos a Month

An article not too long ago was claiming that in order to be happy, Filipinos need to receive 130,000 pesos monthly salary. As important as financial stability is for us, money cannot equate happiness. There are already so many ways by which you can lead an adequately fulfilling life even with just a minimum income of what they're talking about. Here's how you could embrace happiness on your own terms regardless of how your income goes.

1. Relationships Over Bank Balances

Studies have always shown that great, positive relationships form the bedrock of happiness. It's not the money that we make; it is the quality of connections that we have with our friends, family, and our community. There can be no paycheck to purchase that kind of happiness we find when we are able to spend time with the ones we love, when we laugh together, or build memories. Relationships, deepened by spending and true effort, bring rewards into our lives.

2. Savor the Sweet Abundance

We ignore many things that are right there to be appreciated in daily living: such as the sweetness of a sunset view, a silent walk around the park, or the relish of a great homemade meal. Happiness finds often in the little experiences around us, day-to-day. Take time out in your daily routine and experience the simple pleasures for themselves, and you'll begin to notice much more intense satisfaction.

3. Focus on Gratitude

There are a multitude of reasons that gratitude should top your list of happiness-enriching tools. Gratitude focuses your attention on what you do have instead of what is lacking; it cultivates an attitude of abundance. Try the easy practice of keeping a gratitude journal. Write several things you're thankful for each day. This practice will shift your outlook, no matter what you bring home in money.

4. Spend Money on Experiences, Not Stuff

If we spend money buying stuff to be happy, often the happiness is fleeting. Invest in experiences instead - a day trip with friends, a cooking class, or a new hiking trail. These experiences make us remember and are life enriching and give more satisfaction in the long term than accumulating stuff.

5. Cultivate a Growth Mindset

The time we spend in our world is temporary, as are our abilities. And with this mindset, we find happiness in growth and development. We should be open to challenges and acquire new skills, with personal goals. Self-improvement in your career, health, or personal life can bring a feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment. Happiness often comes from knowing that we're moving forward, regardless of the pace. Another thing is to study another language like Spanish for you to reconnect with Spanish-speaking communities.

6. Pursue Hobbies and Passions

You get to live life to the fullest and maintain a balance between work and leisure by doing things you love. From painting and gardening to dancing and music, hobbies bring flavor and meaning to life. These hobbies can be inexpensive and yet fulfilling to express energy and creativity toward something that brings you real joy. I started learning music in 2010 and I keep doing so to keep this passion.

7. Practice Mindfulness and Self-Care

Mindfulness is the act of living in the present, something that has been proven to have the effect of lowering the level of stress and, by extension, happiness levels. You don't necessarily have to spend a dime on vacation to unwind. Just take a few minutes a day to breathe heavily, meditate, or become aware of your environment. Self-care is in anything from taking a nice warm bath, reading books, or exercising. A little self-care every day will lift your spirit and help you face challenges in life.

8. Giving back to and helping others

Help others and that is one of the best ways to boost your happiness. Whether it's volunteering, helping a neighbor, or just being there for a friend, acts of kindness increase our sense of purpose and connection. You don't need a big bank account to be generous; sometimes, your time and empathy are the most valuable gifts you can offer.

9. Find Joy in Learning New Things

Learning does not have to mean college degrees or job security. Try a new recipe, take up a new hobby, or try one of the many DIYs online for something to try at home. The journey of learning keeps our brains stimulated and engaged with this world; it helps people remain curious and amazed in everything we do. So enjoy that discovery regardless of how much money you might make.

10. Redefine Success to Fit Your Budget

Most people have set success as earning high money, but success is a relative term. Success to me is having adequate time to spend with loved ones, being healthy and strong, or just free to pursue my desires. Redefining success in my own context brings fulfillment without necessarily forcing myself to meet sets of meaningless financial benchmarks.

11. Health and Wellness

Our health is our most precious wealth and does not need a huge budget to maintain. Regular exercise, balanced meal, and good sleep are some of the greatest keys to happiness. Seek cheap, affordable activities such as going for walks, cycling, or even performing some yoga at home. Keeping your body fit also gives you the energy and grit to face life.

12. Don't Compare With Others

Comparing your life with others on social media due to income or lifestyle has been made easy with the advent of social media. That is a big lie. Comparing others' lifestyles to yours has been discovered to be the thief of joy. Therefore, learn to remind yourself that nobody's journey is the same as yours, and nobody will be happy because he or she is having something you are not having. Concentrate on what will make you happy and fulfilled instead of competing with others.

13. Concentrate on What You Can Control

There are things we cannot control in life and wasting time worrying about such things will only suck up our energy. Focus on what you can control-that is, your mindset, your actions, your day-to-day habits. This is what gives you control over your life despite situations.

14. Keep Moving by Setting Small Goals

Even the most minor goals give a feeling of accomplishment and drive. Be it reading a new book, learning a new recipe, or starting some small project, achieving those tiny goals gives us that little rush of dopamine and sense of purpose. Divide up your big goals into actionable steps, and then celebrate every milestone.

Final Thoughts: Finding Happiness Within

The instinct is to want financial security and believe that more money will make life easier. Happiness, however, is something we choose daily, a product of our views and actions rather than our bank account. Focusing on relationships, personal growth, and experiences that don't require a high salary can build a rich and fulfilling life.

So, the next time you become worried about money, remember how contentment is a reality for you in the here and now. It is in how we live, not in what we earn. So live with simple pleasures, nourish relationships, pursue your passions, and redefine your success on your terms. Happiness is not a number. It is a lifestyle.

The Philippines and US President Trump

How Donald Trump's Comeback as US President Would Shape Up the Philippines.

As the US political field plays out amid speculations of a Donald Trump comeback as head of state, there is excitement laced with uncertainty. For its immediate economic and geopolitical neighbors like the Philippines, the new direction could be drastic in change. The article surveys the possible implications of a Trump comeback on the Philippines in the areas of economic, diplomatic, and social fields.

1. Economic ties and trade policies

Given his tenure from 2017 to 2021 as U.S. President under an "America First" policy, the policy led America into protectionist trade policy focusing on renegotiation with as many trade deals for favorable change in the American economic setup. If this continues upon re-election, Trump can see through a continuation of an America First policy. Under that policy, his effects could be both negative and positive for the Philippines.

Potential Impact on Philippines:

Trade Adjustments: The Philippines maintains an excellent trade relationship with the United States of America. Products such as electronics, textiles, and agricultural products are imported from the Philippines. This may mean that a tighter trade agreement or that the tariffs charged on Philippine exports would increase.

Foreign Investments: During the previous term of Trump, much effort was made in making American businesses import manufacturing back to America. In case these policies would once again emerge, this may affect foreign investments in out and manufacturing sectors in Philippines or other countries.

2. Impact on BPO Sector

BPO is arguably one of the Philippines' most vital economic activities, and it contributes a substantial percentage to national GDP employment, which encompasses millions of people. There have been considerations on keeping jobs within America by incentivizing American businesses during Trump's last term.

Job Repatriation Pressures: Policy moves that would encourage a "bring it home" atmosphere for American-based companies might be detrimental to the BPO industry in the Philippines. As resilient as this industry is, minor policy adjustments that reduce outsourcing could shift business practices in unfortunate ways for U.S.-based clients.

Better Outsourcing Value: At the same time, the competitiveness of the Philippines in cost-effectiveness, skilled workforce, and proficiency in English may still attract American companies that require effective operations.

Even in a protectionist policy, outsourcing may remain attractive for cost-sensitive industries.

Trump's foreign policy approach has been unusual and, at times, unpredictable. For the Philippines, located in a strategically geopolitically significant location, this could mean new dynamics in U.S.-Philippines relations and perhaps in broader foreign policy priorities.

Potential Impacts:

Military and Defense Alliances: During his first term, Trump was very vocal about questioning the contributions of allies to mutual defense agreements. In case he follows a more transactional approach to alliances, the Philippines would need to bargain hard to gain military support and cooperation under agreements like the Mutual Defense Treaty.

South China Sea Tensions: The Philippines is involved in ongoing territorial disputes with China in the South China Sea. The Trump administration was infamous for its toughness towards China. Increased U.S. attention to counteract Chinese influence could increase the support of the Philippines' cause but raises regional tensions, too.

3. Immigration Policies and Filipino Workers

It has a huge diaspora and had been a destination country for Overseas Filipino Workers, in quest of better prospects. Under Trump's previous regime, immigration policies included strict border control as well as more rigorous visa regulations.
Possible Consequences

More Chauvinistic Visa Policy: Immigration will enforce stricter policies. This could impact them badly for those Filipinos seeking jobs or residences in the United States. The flow of remittance could be badly hit because it is an essential source of income for several families and the Philippines itself.

Dual Citizenship and Residency: Dual citizenship may be affected and could, as a result, limit Filipino-Americans and even those holding dual citizenship when traveling between the two nations to work or even be confined there.

The presidency of Trump polarizes him, so his return could shift perceptions about him and the government of the Philippines among naysayers and supporters.

Possible Ramifications:

Citizenly Perception: His style as an opinionist and vocally divisive policy may reflect to other parties and people's movements inside the country of the Philippines. A lot may occur and it can be ideal to share perspectives about politics, nationism, foreign influence into policies within domestic settings.

Media and Pop Culture: The return of Trump will rekindle interest and debate in the political discourses within the media, online communities, and their impact on the overall public discourse and the tone of the political conversation in the Philippines.

Conclusion: Steer into the Future

While it remains unclear at this point how President Donald Trump's return might particularly affect the Philippines, much is already in place for potential massive economic, political, and social changes. The resilient and adaptable country of the Philippines would thus have to carefully navigate these waters as it charts its shifts in order not to lose its speedy momentum in the face of changing global directions.

As Filipinos, we are in a time of utmost awareness, alertness about the changes taking place, and must be assertive regarding policies that may serve for national interests and sustain development growth. Whether the focus was on strengthening domestic industries or enhancing diplomatic resilience and looking towards new partnerships, preparation is always the main element on how to best address emerging issues.

How to not getting cancelled by anti cha cha?

It can be difficult to navigate the public debate landscape, particularly when it comes to divisive topics like change. The following tactics can assist you in avoiding getting "cancelled" by people who disagree with your reformist viewpoints:

  1. Empathy and Understanding
Actively Listen to Understand the worries and anxieties held by those who oppose reform. This will enable you to more skillfully handle their concerns.
Demonstrate Empathy: Even if you disagree, respect their viewpoint and validate their emotions.
  2. Be respectful and avoid using inflammatory or derogatory language when communicating. A more positive atmosphere is fostered by courteous conversation.
Make Your Intentions Clear: Clearly state the objectives and advantages of the changes. Describe how they solve current issues and give concrete instances.
  3. Fact-Based Arguments: Employ Data and Evidence: Provide reliable data, research, and examples to back up your claims. This can strengthen your argument and make it more difficult to refute.
Dispel Myths: Correct false information politely by providing accurate information. Have references ready to support any statements you make.
  4. Forge Common Ground: Locate points of agreement and expand from there to form alliances. Confident beliefs can serve as a starting point for more fruitful conversations.Engage Moderates: Assist those who may be receptive to change but harbor reservations. They can assist in bridging the extremes.
  5. Accountability and Transparency: Be Accountable: Clearly communicate your reasoning, methodology, and any possible effects of the changes. Openness has the power to foster trust.
Recognize Errors: If errors occur, state forthright what went wrong and how it will be fixed. Credibility can be improved by accountability.
  6. Effective Use of Media:Craft Your Message: Tailor your message for different platforms and audiences. Use compelling narratives and visuals to make your case.Engage Positively: Use social media and other platforms to engage positively with critics. Highlight success stories and testimonials from those who have benefited from reforms.
  7. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Understand the Law: Recognize the legal ramifications of the changes you are trying to implement. Make sure what you do complies with all applicable rules and regulations.Ethics: Uphold the highest moral standards. Maintaining integrity might help you avoid negative publicity and save face.

Donate to Rapper, what's the effect?

While donations can be beneficial for sustaining independent journalism, there are potential negative effects associated with relying heavily on public donations, particularly for a news organization like Rappler which the orgnization asks donation for several years ago. Let me share some of the negative effects regarding this.

Donate to Rappler screengrab from Rappler.com website.
  1. Dependency on Donors' Agenda: Well that's depends on the size and influence of donors, there is a possible risk that Rappler's editorial decisions could be influenced by the preferences or agendas of those providing donations. This could be an oligarch, a business elite, a politician, etc. You name it. This could compromise the news organization's independence and objectivity.
  2. Perception of Bias: Public perception may be influenced by the perception that Rappler's reporting is biased towards donors. There's also possiblity that certain topics are covered more favorably due to financial support. This could undermine trust in the organization's credibility and impartiality. Since June 2023, the trust rating of 47% has been declining, even netizens calling it as crappler. Even confirmed by Politiko.com.ph of such dwindling trust rating.
  3. Financial Instability: Relying heavily on donations can make Rappler financially vulnerable, as donation levels may fluctuate over time due to changes in economic conditions or donor priorities. This instability could impact the organization's ability to sustain operations and maintain staffing levels. Philippine government ordered to close the news organization in June 2022 due to various reasons.
  4. Pressure to Please Donors: Rappler may feel pressure to cater to the preferences of donors in order to maintain their support, potentially leading to self-censorship or the prioritization of certain topics over others based on donor interests rather than journalistic merit.
  5. Loss of Editorial Independence: If donations become a primary source of funding for Rappler, there is a risk that the news organization could become overly reliant on donors' support, potentially compromising its editorial independence and ability to report on sensitive or controversial issues without fear of repercussions.
Overall, while donations can provide valuable financial support for news organizations like Rappler, it's important for them to carefully consider the potential negative effects and take steps to ensure transparency, accountability, and editorial independence in their fundraising efforts.

Absurd 1987 Philippine Constitution

Whatever is happening in the Philippines is a result of implementing an absurd constitution that centralizes everything in the country, and forcing everyone to migrate from any part of the Philippines to Metro Manila. This is what is happening when all of the 82 provinces of the archipelago are neglected, despite all of them are tax payers.

The development of local economies are impaired by monopolies, and doupolies that past administrations since 1987 prioritize their oligarch and elite friends, at the expense of all Filipinos. Definitely, EDSA-pwera!

When there is no foreign direct investments (FDIs), there is also no competition in the economy and everyone leads to mediocrity. No competiton means minimum wage for local workers, no purchasing power of the masses to afford basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing and nothing luxuries at all.

Those imperialists in Metro Manila and the Tagalog elitists hoard almost all of the national budget and development for decades, then the same who gatekeep the development of 82 provinces as if non-Manila residents are not entitled to it. In the national level, all of the provinces are always in the losing end in terms of infrastructure development. You're truly ignorant if you don't know these matters and even opposing charter change in the country!

No question then that our 1987 constitution is flawed, outdated, defective, rotten and even irrelevant documents by its stupid framers in 1986 in today's modern world.

On APO's hakbang paurong against cha-cha

To the members of the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) who staged their annual oblation Run at the University of the Philippines Diliman on Friday, Feb. 16th, 2024. This year's theme is "Cha-cha: Hakbang Paurong."

You won't see this ideocracy in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and even Vietnam. You will never see this stupid and idiotic act in countries where their systems are in Federal-Parliamentary and their economy is also open for foreign investors. It's only in the worst university in ASEAN which the education system in the Philippines is lagging behind, the University of the Philippines. You can only see this in the Philippines, the only country in the world where there are a lot of restrictions in its lousy constitution, which some of the framers protect oligarch and elites in the Philippines, making majority of Filipinos poor.

Instead of presenting alternative solutions to economic charter change, they go out in public to their naked bodies which carry no value or message at all.

We need to open our country to foreign investments to several sectors and several industries. Allowing these investors will generate job opportunities for all Filipinos. Instead of going to work abroad, it is much better to bring in investments so Filipnios will no longer be separated with their family members, and friends. It will also generate local tax revenue which will be used to fund our education. So that UP students have something in their brains.

EDSA is officially dead in the Philippines

Numerous individuals and organizations, including ex-Supreme Court justices Antonio Carpio and Adolfo Azcuna, are advocating for an end to discussions about amendments to the Constitution. However, it is argued that EDSA has lost its relevance over time since the rushed ratification of the 1987 Philippine constitution was carried out without proper notification of citizens. As a result of this move which left our country severely underdeveloped; rather than embodying hope and positive change as intended by EDSA's spirit initially - today we see nothing but inconvenience caused by traffic congestion because infrastructure hasn't kept pace with population growth in urban areas making it ineffective. Its deterioration from lackadaisical maintenance renders it gradually becoming obsolete until eventually ceasing existence altogether.

After the Philippine government issued a decree announcing holidays for 2024, it became apparent that the EDSA People Power Revolution was not included. A vast majority of Filipinos have come to accept that this historic event has lost its significance since Benigno Simeon Aquino's presidency.

In case you haven't come to terms with reality yet, let me kindly remind you that the EDSA rhetoric has officially been put to rest by the majority of Filipino citizens who voted in the recent 2022 elections. As a result, it's crucial that we move on from a constitution based on this now defunct ideology. The previous framework failed in its superficial attempt at safeguarding Philippine interests and was rather motivated by an ulterior goal of prohibiting power for the Marcoses. It is time for those involved with yellow, pink, and red movements reevaluate their approaches as they search for alternative tactics aimed at deceiving people again.

The primary recollection of EDSA for many Filipinos is its infamous reputation as the world's most congested road, with little else standing out in their minds.

To Amend or Not To Amend: That is the Question. A Debate on Charter Change.
